The 21st century journalist

Posted on Monday 3 December 2007

Do you ever wish that your local newspapers published more of your press releases? Ever wish they printed what you actually wanted them to print?

The 21st century has given the power of PR to people like you. More people are made journalists with the power of blogs. Watch this video to learn more:

You have an audience…you have something to say. It’s time to think about talking directly with that audience.

Has your agency thought about using blogs? What are your hesitations?

During my recent preconference sessions at the IPRA/IAPD conference I specifically spoke about “Cutting Edge Media” and the shift from “marketing messages” to “marketing conversations.” We talked about everything from My Space and Craig’s List to Blogs and Wikepedia — all which are fantastic (and free) avenues to spread the word about your programs, plans and benefits. Over 60 people attended and (most) inquisitively and enthusiastically embraced these new ideas. We wondered, however, how “old-school” decision-makers and community leaders will be, to green light new media? Sometimes, it makes more sense to “jay walk” than to wait for permission to cross into new territory. For now, check out my blog dedicated to marketing parks, recreation, camps and community servies. http://www.littleredsbigideas.typepad.com http://www.typepad.com/t/trackback/2383610/25477198
