C&M Meeting & Brochure Data

Posted on Friday, April 11, 2008

Numerous people have asked for comparisons on brochure costs and ad sales for other districts. To hopefully help our fellow C&Mers, I would like to collect answers to a lot of these questions and put a report together that can be shared with everybody. Please email ksmith@bolingbrookparks.org by Tuesday, April 15 your answers to following questions:
1. How many pages is your district’s brochure?
2. Is your brochure designed in-house or by an outside designer? If an outside designer, what do you pay for design?
3. Is your brochure four-color?
4. What do you pay for printing your brochure?
5. What delivery method do you use?
6. What is your delivery cost?
7. Do you sell ads for your brochure? If yes, please specify to total amount of dollars made per brochure from ad sales?

I will compile a report and have it ready for our April 16th C&M meeting at Lisle. I hope to see everyone there. Please remember to bring your brown bag lunch or pick one up on the way.  If you are unable to make the meeting but would like the report, please email me at ksmith@bolingbrookparks.org.  Thank you!

Recommendations on DLP projectors

Posted on Wednesday, April 2, 2008

We need to purchase a DLP projector & I’m wondering if anyone has one (brand & model) to recommend. We are looking for nice resolution, but equally important, ease of start-up when hooked up to a laptop. Our old projector was very tempermental & had difficulty receiving the signal from our laptop. The projector will be used for PowerPoint presentations & playing DVD to rooms/audiences of 10-200. Please contact me at 815-459-0737, ext. 235 or sholcombe@nisra.org.

Thank you,

Sarah Holcombe

View Agency Showcase entries online

Posted on Thursday, February 21, 2008

As you know, this year’s Agency Showcase Competition required you to submit your best creative marketing pieces electronically. This new process made it quicker and easier for you to nominate your work - but it also made it easier for judges to access the entries. But most importantly…now everyone can access and reference the entries online!

Using SlideShare, we have combined the individual entries into mass PDFs by award category and shared them online. You can now easily flip through the entries without having to download large files or make a trip to the IPRA office to view them in person. We think this is going to be a great resource for marketing professionals in the association.

You can see the winners listed on the Soaring to New Heights Conference page but visit the new Design Gallery to view each of the entries!

Let us know, by commenting on this post, any suggestions or comments you have about the Agency Showcase Competition. Are there new categories that should be added? Suggestions about the judging process? Overall ways to improve the competition?

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the Agency Showcase Competition. Over the past couple years, the quality of creative work being done at agencies is amazing. Keep up the great work!

A note to all first, second and third place winning agencies: plaques will be mailed to you within the next couple weeks.

The 21st century journalist

Posted on Monday, December 3, 2007

Do you ever wish that your local newspapers published more of your press releases? Ever wish they printed what you actually wanted them to print?

The 21st century has given the power of PR to people like you. More people are made journalists with the power of blogs. Watch this video to learn more:

You have an audience…you have something to say. It’s time to think about talking directly with that audience.

Has your agency thought about using blogs? What are your hesitations?
